Es gibt keinen Ort wie zu Hause. Während den Vorbereitungen 

für unsere neue Herbst-/Winter-Kollektion 2021-22 wurde uns 

klar, dass dieses Sprichwort nicht nur eine bedeutungslose Aneinanderreihung 

von Wörtern ist, sondern dass darin eine tiefe 

Wahrheit steckt. 

Gemeinsam machten wir uns auf den Weg, um die schönsten 

Naturschauplätze in Österreich zu entdecken. Wir erlebten 

atemberaubende Berggipfel, malerische kleine Dörfer, pulsierende 

Alpenstädte und majestätische Hochgebirgsgletscher. 

Auf unserer reichhaltigen und vielfältigen Rundreise durch unser 

Land haben wir auch die Inspiration für das Thema der Herbst-/ 

Winter-Kollektion erhalten: "Zurück zum Ursprung". 

Dem Thema folgend, konzentriert sich ein Teil der Kollektion 

auf die Verarbeitung traditioneller österreichischer Materialien, 

wie z.B. Schladminger Loden. Andere Teile, wie z.B. unsere neuen 

urbanen Lifestyle-Sneakers, liefern einen modernen Look 

mit hoher Funktionalität, der den Geist des modernen Österreichs 

widerspiegelt. Um die alpinen Höhen auch im Winter in 

Reichweite zu halten, haben wir unsere Winterkollektion um 

einen neuen Winter-Wanderschuh ergänzt, der dank einzigartigem 

Grip und warmem Futter ideal für die kalte Jahreszeit 

geeignet ist. 

Wir möchten dich nicht nur dazu inspirieren, die Schönheit unserer 

Heimat Österreich zu entdecken, sondern auch die schönen 

Plätze vor der eigenen Haustür zu erkunden und den Lieblingsplatz 

zu finden, der dich immer wieder aufs Neue anzieht.

There's no place like home. While preparing for our new autumn/ 

winter 21-22 collection, it became evident to us that this saying is 

not just a meaningless string of words, but that there is a deep truth 

in it. 

Together, we set off to discover the most beautiful outdoor settings 

in Austria. We experienced breath-taking mountain peaks, picturesque 

little villages, pulsating alpine towns and majestic high-altitude 

glaciers. Making our way through this rich and diverse round 

trip of our country, we also got the inspiration for the autumn/winter 

collection's theme: “Back to the origin.” 

Following the theme, part of the collection focuses on the processing 

of traditional Austrian materials, such as Schladminger Loden. 

Other parts, such as our new urban lifestyle sneakers, deliver a modern 

look with a high level of functionality, reflecting the spirit of 

modern-day Austria. To keep the alpine heights within reach even 

in winter, we've supplemented our winter collection with a new 

winter hiking shoe which, thanks to unique grip and warm lining, 

is ideal to for the cold season. 

We would like to inspire you not only to discover the beauty of our 

home of Austria, but also to explore the beautiful places outside 

your own door and find that favourite spot that will keep drawing 

you back again and again.

riert von den traditionellen österreichischen Schuhen, 

kombiniert dieser Schuh original Schladminger 

Loden und Leder mit modernen Technologien für 

ein gemütliches Gefühl und einen trendigen Look.

A little piece of our homeland. 

The Bergwerk men’s winter boot represents this season’s 

theme and celebrates the tradition of Austrian shoemaking. 

Inspired by the traditional Austrian footwear, 

this shoe combines original Schladming Loden and leather 

with modern technologies for a cosy feeling and 

a trendy look.

Der Schaft aus original Schladminger Loden prägt das 

Aussehen und die Funktion. Die Seitenteile und die Zehenkappe 

aus hochwertigem Vollleder geben den Schuhen einen eleganten 

Schliff und machen sie gleichzeitig widerstandsfähiger. 

Den Materialmix ergänzt Dachstein mit einem Lammfellfutter, 

das die Füße zusätzlich wärmt. Eine traditionelle Lochverzierung, 

die sogenannte Brogue, fasst das Leder am Schaft ein. 

The shaft made of original Schladminger loden impresses with 

its look and function. The side parts and toe caps made of highquality 

full leather give the shoes an elegant finish and at the 

same time make them more resistant. Dachstein complements 

the material mix with a lambskin lining that provides additional 

warmth for the feet. A traditional hole decoration, the so-called 

brogue, frames the leather on the upper. 

Funktionell rundet die griffige Vibram® Betulla Schaumsohle 

den Bergwerk von DACHSTEIN ab und gibt ausgezeichneten 

Grip auf jedem Untergrund. Gleichzeitig isoliert 

die spezielle Gumlite-Schaummischung besser als herkömmliche 

Gummisohlen. 

Functionally, the easy-grip Vibram® Betulla foam sole rounds 

off the DACHSTEIN Bergwerk and provides excellent grip on any 

surface. At the same time, the special Gumlite foam mixture insulates 

better than conventional rubber soles. 

Loden wird aus hundertprozentig natürlicher Wolle gewonnen 

und ist von Natur aus wasserabweisend. Herzstück 

der Lodenproduktion von Steiner1888 ist das Walken. Durch 

diesen Vorgang wird der Wollstoff verdichtet und es entsteht 

ein natürlicher Wetterschutz. Das Material wärmt, atmet und 

regeneriert. Durch die dichte Oberfläche und den natürlichen 

Fettgehalt der Wolle entsteht eine Imprägnierung. 

Positive qualities of loden- water-repellent- moisturizing- windproof- 

breathable- odour reducing - flame resistant Loden is 

made from one hundred percent natural wool, is naturally 

water-repellent and wind-resistant. Heartbeat of the loden 

production of Steiner1888 is "walken". Through this process the 

wool fabric is compressed and itsa natural protection is created. 

The material warms, breathes and regenerates. Due to the dense 

surface and the natural fat content of the wool an impregnation 

is created.

suede leather is robust and with the eye-catching 

embossed design at the same time very stylish. The high 

shaft merges at the top into an integrated gaiter, which can be 

closed with an elastic band, secured with a velcro strap against

GORE-TEX®

Wasserdicht und atmungsaktiv 

Die GORE-TEX Membrane ist eine extrem dünne Schicht aus Polytetrafluorethylen (ePTFE), die mit einem Obermaterial 

und in vielen Fällen mit einem Futter verbunden wird. Sie ist dauerhaft wasserdicht und winddicht und gleichzeitig 

atmungsaktiv. Wasser und kalter Wind können also von außen nicht eindringen, wahrend Schweiß unbehindert nach 

außen entweichen kann. 

Funktionsweise 

Die GORE-TEX Membrane hat mehr als 1,4 Milliarden Poren pro Quadratzentimeter. Diese Poren sind 20.000 mal kleiner 

als ein Wassertropfen, aber 700 mal größer als ein Wasserdampfmolekül. Damit ist die Membrane vollständig wasserdicht, 

zugleich aber durchlässig für Schweiß in Form von Wasserdampf. 

Footwear with GORE-TEX® membrane technology is ideal for indoor and outdoor use in almost all temperatures or for heavy 

physical activity. They are durably waterproof and at the same time offer optimum breathability, making them the ideal solution 

for those who value maximum climate comfort and improved heat transfer. 

Waterproof and breathable 

The GORE-TEX membrane is an extremely thin layer of stretched polytetrafluorethylene (ePTFE), which is bonded to an upper 

material and in many cases to a lining. It is permanently waterproof and windproof, and at the same time breathable. Water 

and cold wind cannot penetrate from the outside, while sweat can escape unhindered. 

Functionality 

The GORE-TEX membrane has more than 1.4 billion pores per square centimetre. These pores are 20,000 times smaller than a 

drop of water, but 700 times larger than a water vapour molecule. This makes the membrane completely waterproof, but at the 

same time permeable to perspiration in the form of water steam.

Hochfunktionelle Gummimischungen

Sohle. Vibram® hat spezielle Gummimischungen für ebenso spezielle Anforderungen entwickelt. Bei Schuhen für das 

Höhenbergsteigen wird beispielsweise die sehr feste, genau auf Temperaturen jenseits des Gefrierpunktes abgestimmte 

Mont Mischung verwendet. Bei Zustiegs-Gummimischungen für felsiges Terrain findet Vibram ein perfektes Mittelmaß 

aus Flexibilität und genug Stabilität, um als Allrounder glänzen zu können. 

Was macht Vibram® Sohlen so einzigartig? 

Das Profil einer Sohle ist für Bergsportler in schwierigem Terrain das A und O – hier kommt es auf Anordnung sowie 

Form und Tiefe der Stollen an. Tiefe Furchen zwischen den Stollen sorgen dafür, dass sich diese schön in weichem 

Untergrund festbeißen und so viel Halt garantieren. Bei vielen Vibram® Sohlen an Bergschuhen sind die Stollen an der 

Seite in Führungsrinnen angeordnet, damit sich die Sohle selbst von Dreck und Schlamm reinigen kann. Omnidirektionale 

Stollen bringen vor allem auf felsigem Untergrund Sicherheit, egal bei welcher Trittposition. Eine unterschiedliche 

Ausrichtung der Stollen im Hinter- und Vorderfußbereich sorgt bei einer guten Sohle für viel Vortrieb und Halt beim 

Aufstieg, bremst dagegen beim Abstieg gut ab.

Highly functional rubber compounds 

The rubber compound of the sole is extremely important for the grip of the sole on the ground as well as the durability of the 

sole. In what temperature range does the rubber work? Is the compound soft or hard? Vibram has developed special rubber 

compounds for equally special requirements. For example, in shoes for high altitude mountaineering, the very firm Mont compound 

is used, which is precisely adapted to temperatures above freezing point. For access rubber mixtures such as the Serpent 

sole for rocky terrain, Vibram finds a perfect middle ground of flexibility and enough stability to shine as an all-rounder. 

What makes Vibram® soles so unique? 

The profile of a sole in difficult terrain is for mountaineers the most important thing - here it depends on the position, shape 

and depth of the studs. Deep furrows between the studs ensure that they bite firmly into soft ground and thus guarantee a 

good grip. In many Vibram® soles on mountain boots, the studs are arranged in guide channels on the side so that the sole can 

clean itself of dirt and mud. Omnidirectional studs provide safety, especially on rocky ground, regardless of the tread position. 

A different alignment of the studs in the rear and front foot area of a good sole provides a lot of drive and grip on ascents, but 

slows down well on descents.

Robust & light for high-end mountain sports 

The use of Giardini microfibre in mountaineering has a lot of advantages: the fibre has very high mechanical properties and 

is much lighter than leather, which leads to a higher wearing comfort when climbing. In addition, the fibre is breathable and 

the impregnation is carried out without PFOA and PFOS. The robustness of the material contributes to the durability of the 

products. 

The Girardini microfibre used is a coated microfibre which, thanks to its advanced technical performance, can be used as a 

substitute for leather. Since no animal products are used in the production process, the term „vegan leather“ is also used in this 

context.

Steiner1888 Loden 

Herzstück der Lodenproduktion von Steiner1888 ist das Walken. Durch diesen Vorgang wird der Wollstoff verdichtet 

und es entsteht ein natürlicher Wetterschutz. Das Material wärmt, atmet und regeneriert. 

Durch die dichte Oberfläche und den natürlichen Fettgehalt der Wolle entsteht eine Imprägnierung. Je nach Stärke 

des Regens können mit einem Produkt von Steiner1888 mehrere Stunden im Nassen verbracht werden. Außerdem 

kann die Wollfaser bis zu einem Drittel ihres Eigengewichtes an Wasser aufnehmen, ohne sich nass anzufühlen. Die 

Feuchtigkeit wird von der Faser aufgenommen und langsam wieder abgegeben. Die verfilzte Oberfläche des Lodens 

schrumpft beim Walken. Durch diese Verarbeitung werden die Fasern miteinander zu einer Struktur verbunden, die 

windabweisend wirkt. Trotz der dichten Oberflächenbeschaffenheit des Lodens sind seine Fasern in der Lage, sowohl 

Körperwärme als auch kalte Luft zu speichern. Damit wird für guten thermischen Ausgleich gesorgt. Wolle hat die 

Fähigkeit, Gerüche zu neutralisieren. Kunstfasern müssen nach einmaligem Tragen gewaschen werden. Bei Loden reicht 

bereits ein einfaches Lüften, um Schweiß und ähnliches aus den Fasern zu bekommen.

The heart of Steiner1888‘s loden production is „Walken“. This process compresses the wool fabric and creates a natural weather 

protection. The material warms, breathes and regenerates. 

The dense surface and the natural fat content of the wool creates an impregnation. Depending on the strength of the rain, 

several hours can be spent in the wet with a product from Steiner1888. Furthermore, the wool fibre can absorb up to a third 

of its own weight in water without feeling wet. The moisture is absorbed by the fibre and slowly released again. The matted 

surface of the loden shrinks during fulling. This process binds the fibres together to form a structure which is wind-repellent. 

Despite the dense surface of the loden, its fibres are able to store both body heat and cold air. This ensures good thermal 

balance. Wool has the ability to neutralise odours. Synthetic fibres must be washed after a single wear. In the case of loden, 

simply airing it is enough to get sweat and the like out of the fibres.
