Super Learning Afternoon, an end of Learning
Cycle tradition, is an opportunity for pupils to
have a unique experience and learn beyond the
usual confines of the tradition classroom.
Year 7 - William Shakespeare
"If you cannot
take King's to
Broadway,
bring Broadway
to King's."
On Wednesday 4th November, Year 7 took part
in their first Super Learning afternoon. In
keeping with the King's tradition of always
having high expectations, the year group
explored Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'. After an
assembly via Zoom which introduced the main
characters and themes in the play, students
worked in tutor groups to read key scenes - in
the original Shakespearian language!
Tutor groups then produced their own
performances of those scenes, which were
shared with the year group in
chronological order. Commendations to 7
Normandy and Miss C Mitchell for their
outstanding performances, which earned
100 Monarchs for each member of the
tutor group. Once again, Year 7 thoroughly
impressed us all with their hard work and
excellent attitudes. Well done Year 7 - you
are already a credit to the school!
Year 13 - A Cultural Experience
Super Learning afternoon is usually an
excellent opportunity for pupils to embark
on a cultural trip. With the thriving cities
of Manchester & Liverpool on our doorstep
this is usually a permanent fixture on the
school calendar. However in the current
climate a school trip would be out of the
question. But if you cannot take King's to
Broadway, bring Broadway to King's!
Year 13 were fortunate enough to watch a
streamed performance of the world
renowned Broadway musical 'Hamilton'
detailing the life of one of the Founding
Fathers of the United States of America.
An apt and topical choice for the
Presidential election this month.

Year 10 & 11 - Career Readiness
At King's we pride ourselves on
getting students to explore and
research a range of different
industries through Unifrog; learn
about the changing workplace, rules
and jobs of the future through
character and; interact with external
providers through guest speaker talks
and World of Work events. At the end
of LC1, Year 10 and 11 students
participated in a carousel of talks
delivered by a range of post 16
providers.
These included: Reaseheath College,
Warrington Royal and Vale College,
Crompton College, Winstanley College
and Birchwood College. Students
gathered lots of information on entry
requirements, structure of the school
day, transportation details as well as
extra curricular activities available at
each institution. Students were able
to ask lots of questions directly to
each post 16 provider in the hopes of
helping them make informed choices
about their future beyond KLA.

and rank. Potential candidates must submit a
written application form to be reviewed by CCF
staff and sit on a promotion board.

Not all cadets who apply are necessarily successful and
it is a notable achievement. We are very proud of our
pupils who have shown outstanding leadership and
aspiration.

Students discover the
environmental impacts within
Warrington which are causing
widespread damage to local
communities. By having a
‘close-to-home’ focus it allows
pupils to realise that the threat
of global warming and
environmental damage is not
just a ‘worldwide’ issue; it
affects everyone.

Character is one of the most fundamental aspects of King's
Leadership Academy - after all we are a 'Leadership' school.
Character lessons are just one of the many ways we ensure all
pupils develop into successful and open minded citizens and are
supportive of British Values. Every Learning Cycle each year group
begins a new topic. Read on to learn about what we will be
exploring next.
Year 7 - Being self-aware of the views within my society.
Students will engage with the British Values which make up our
local and national communities. Following this, pupils will discuss
what identity means and how identity changes around the UK;
drawing on their own identities and what makes them different
within their classroom community. Pupils will also look at how a
diverse society provides positive opportunities for all.
Year 9- Being aware of the
political nature of the UK.
As pupils grow closer to the age
of voting and casting their
opinions into the world, it is
vital that our students
understand the Governmental
System. Year 9 will take a tour
around the grounds of
Westminster and examine how
Parliament create their Laws.
Successful and
open minded
citizens who are
supportive of
British Values.

student post 16 research surveys, our Year 11 now have a starting point to help them
