Drama Showcase
A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WONDERFUL STUDENTS FOR SHOWING THEIR
EXCEPTIONAL CREATIVE TALENTS ON STAGE; FROM RECITING SHAKESPEARE, CLASSIC
MONOLOGUES, BLOOD BROTHERS AND EVERYBODY'S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE, TO SOME
VERY SPECIAL EDITIONS FROM OUR EXTRA CURRICULAR STUDENTS FROM THE GREATEST
SHOWMAN.
THE SHOWCASE DEMONSTRATED JUST SOME OF OUR CURRICULUM WORK THAT
STUDENTS HAVE BEEN USING AS PART OF THEIR FORMAL ASSESSMENTS AND PURE
ENJOYMENT FROM THE FANTASTIC WORK THEY HAVE SHOWN DURING LESSON TIME.
WE ALSO SHARED A SNEAK PEAK OF OUR TWO MATILDA'S IN PREPARATION FOR THE JULY
(11TH AND 12TH) SCHOOL PRODUCTION. THEY PERFORMED ONE OF THE FAMOUS SONGS,
QUIET AND NAUGHTY AS THE FINALE. WE WILL LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU IN JULY!
THE DRAMA DEPARTMENT COULD NOT BE PROUDER OF OUR STUDENTS' ACHIEVEMENTS
AND DEDICATION TO THE SHOW AND WE WANTED TO USE THIS TIME TO THANK ALL
STAFF, PARENTS AND CARERS FOR CONTINUING TO SUPPORT OUR BRILLIANT STUDENTS.

Dance Showcase
Our Dance students prepared,
choreographed and performed an
outstanding Dance Showcase last
month for all to enjoy.
There were a number of solo, duet
and group dances based around a
variety of genres of music. Not only
were the dancers exceptional but
the
.
examples of student leadership
and teamwork were outstanding.
The evening was hosted by our Year
10 student Jake Guile. Students
also led the technical and lighting
aspects of the evening. The dancers
all worked as a team to ensure the
running order went smoothly, they
supported one another with
respect and performed their pieces
with the upmost professionalism.
Credimus!
We were also delighted to see a
number of ex-students, members of
our Alumni, attend to show their
support and help out after a day at
college. These seem like small
things but show their continuing
leadership skills and character.

AROUND TWIN BOYS (MICKEY
AND EDWARD) WHO WAS
SEPARATED AT BIRTH.
DofE Expedition
Recently our Year 9 students took part in training towards their upcoming Duke of Edinburgh Award
expedition. All Year 9 students at King’s are enrolled on the award scheme as part of our Character
Education specialism.
After a safety briefing and equipment check, they travelled to Delamere Forest where they took part
in practical navigation training, supplementing what they’d learnt during our last Super Learning
Afternoon. Whilst on the 10km walk the students also revisited elements of emergency procedures
and expedition nutrition.
A great day was had by all, despite the weather during the first training walk, and puts the students
in good shape for their assessed expedition. The professionalism shown by all students was also
commended by members of the public, highlighting how our ASPIRE values link perfectly with the
outdoors.

our students’
professionalism and
respect on the trip
and our students
managed to take away
some excellent
creative ideas during
their rehearsals for
their big show.

Flight Experience
for CCF
As part of the RAF Air Cadets, our
CCF cadets get the opportunity to
gain air experience in military
aircraft.
8 of our cadets travelled to RAF
Woodvale in Formby for an air
experience flight in a Grob Tutor
T1. After a safety
briefing and undertaking an
evacuation test, the cadets were
safe to fly. Whilst waiting for their
flying slot, members of the
Liverpool University Air Squadron
took the cadets onto the flight
simulator to cover the synthetic
element of training. This covers
the controls and how they affect
the aircraft in flight.
Once finished on the simulator,
the cadets were fitted with 15kg of
safety equipment and fastened in
to the aircraft. Each cadet then
got 25 minutes of air time where
they could take control of the
aircraft, some even did aerobatic
loops and barrel rolls!
Having now completed the
simulator training and a real flying
sortie, all cadets who attended are
now eligible to wear the blue flying
wings on their CCF uniform. All
cadets had a fantastic day and
won’t forget their experience any
time soon!

Netball Triumph
As always, our Year 7 netball team
showed great endeavor and played
really well as a team, winning their
game 24-6 overall.

INTER-COUNTIES
RACE FOR CHESHIRE
Jacob Pryor recently raced in the
Inter-Counties race in Loughborough.
When he qualified to race in the Inter-
Counties in January, he had just come
back from illness and injury and he
qualified in 6th place for Cheshire.
However, on Saturday he then came
2nd for Cheshire, a huge
congratulations Jacob!

RECENTLY TO CONGRATULATE HER ON HER RUNNING
SUCCESSES AND WE COULDNT BE PROUDER OF HER
HERE AT KING'S!
MRS LAWRENCE COMPETED IN THE LONDON
MARATHON RACE ALONG WITH 40,000 OTHERS
THROUGH THE STREETS OF THE CAPITAL ON SUNDAY
23 APRIL. SHE AIMS TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR A
CAUSE CLOSE TO HER HEART, TO SUPPORT SERVICES
THAT YOUNG PEOPLE CAN HAVE ACCESS TO IF THEY
ARE STRUGGLING WITH THEIR MENTAL HEALTH.
MRS LAWRENCE - “THERE IS ALL TOO OFTEN A
STIGMA ATTACHED TO MENTAL HEALTH AND IT IS
IMPORTANT THEY FEEL THEY CAN REACH OUT FOR
SUPPORT.
YOUNG PEOPLE CAN BE INCREDIBLY RESILIENT, BUT I
SEE FIRST-HAND THE STRUGGLES THEY CAN FACE
AND WANT TO RAISE AWARENESS OF HOW AND
WHERE THEY CAN ACCESS SUPPORT.
CHECKING IN WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY CAN MAKE
ALL THE DIFFERENCE TO SOMEONE WHO IS
STRUGGLING.”
MRS LAWRENCE HAS CURRENTLY RAISED OVER
£3,000 FOR MIND AND HAD TRAINED FOR WEEKS ON
END IN THE RUN UP TO THE MARATHON – WHICH IS
THE 9TH TIME SHE HAS TOOK PART IN THE EVENT!
SPEAKING ON HER TRAINING REGIME, SHE SAID: “I
STARTED TRAINING AT THE END OF OCTOBER AND
HAVE RUN FOUR TIMES A WEEK SINCE. SO FAR I HAVE
RAN OVER 600 MILES TRAINING FOR THE
MARATHON.”
WITH A GRAND TOTAL OF 26.2 MILES, THE LONDON
MARATHON IS NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED AND
RUNNERS ATTEMPT TO ENTER THE EVENT EVERY
YEAR WITH MANY UNSUCCESSFUL.
