The men come directly to me and look at me a little

surprised, but that doesn‘t make them look any less

dangerous. There are six of them and without any

doubt they belong to the Les Surenas.

Two of them are dressed more finely, the others

look like as if they came directly from a street

battle. I immediately understand why people say

that the Surenas look so brutal. One of them has

long, shiny hair, which he wears in a braid, and

you can see the holster of a pistol at the front of

his trouser belt, but I am more than sure that the

others are armed as well. I try to stay calm, but my

heart beats up to my neck. My plaka on my wrist is

burning on my skin.

The girl must have discovered it when I went to

get the book from the shelf. The six are stopping

right in front of my table. The two slightly more

finely dressed men are standing in the middle, it

seems like all of them are eyeing me for a moment.

I know how to behave towards such men. The most

important thing is to show no fear, so I hold her

gaze and pray inwardly to heaven.

„Look, when we heard someone from the Trez

Puntos was on our turf, we hadn‘t gone with...

something like this.“ One of the more brutal

looking ones, with light brown hair and a big scar

on his cheek, points down at me. „How is it that

you are here?“, asks one of the finer dressed men.

He looks a little younger than the other, although

I notice that the two look very similar. Both have

short black hair, very dark eyes. Both are tall and

obviously very broadly built and have similar facial

features.

„I am learning here. I didn‘t know that the library

was already on your territory, I thought it still

belonged to the neutral part,“ I return and am

amazed at how secure my voice sounds, in contrast

to my inner one, where I am trembling and hope

that I lie well.

„Did you hear that, Paco? She‘s learning. Don‘t you

have a library in your section?“ My heart stops.

Not only do I run into members of the Les Surenas,

but also running into the leader. The older of the

two was approached, so he‘s Paco and the other

one must be his younger brother Rodriguez. Paco‘s

eyes rest calmly on me, he seems to fixate me very

precisely. He seems calm but in his eyes I see that

he really can be absolutely deadly. I get up and pack

my books into the bag.

„Where are you going so fast?“ The one with the

scar is obviously very aggressive in contrast to

the others, who were still quite reserved, he grabs

my arm in motion and holds it tight. He looks at

my hand. „Where‘s your damn Punto plaka?“ No

matter how scared I am at that moment, I‘ve never

backed down and had to deal with much more

dangerous guys. „Don‘t touch me“, I hiss at him

and it seems to work. He won‘t let go of my arm but

he looks at me in disbelief, apparently he doesn‘t

often hear back talk from a woman.

„Let her go, Chico!“ My eyes wander to Paco, who

gave the order, his voice is rough and dark. Chico

lets go of my hand and mumbles softly. „Are all

Punto women so impudent? Poor Trez Puntos, I

feel so sorry for them.“ I guess Chico thinks he‘s

funny. I put my hands on my hips and sparkle at

him viciously, which only seems to amuse him

more. „You‘re pretty, I‘ll give you that, but you‘re

a little too brave to be on our turf. We can do

whatever we want with you and no Trez Punto can

avenge you.“

I lower my eyes, he‘s right, but I know that if they

touch me, Juan would invade, no matter what the

agreement says. Fortunately, they don‘t seem to

suspect who I am „Leave us alone for a moment,

I want to talk to her.“ Paco talks to his men, but

never lets me out of his sight. You can tell they

don‘t like it, but the others withdraw. Paco doesn‘t

take his eyes off me and I stare back.

His eyes are so dark that I have the feeling I‘m

sinking into them for a moment. I shake my head

slightly and continue packing my books. „What‘s

your name? And why are you so crazy to be here?“

In contrast to before, his voice still seems rough

but already a bit softer than before. I step out from

behind the table, stop in front of him and put my

bag on to show that I want to go ... if they let me.

„I just wanted to study, there are more books here

than at my university and I have peace and silence

here.“ I raise my hands. „I have no intention of

attacking you, if that‘s what you‘re thinking.“ I am

truly amazed at how firm my voice is in the face

of the dangerous situation and considering who is

standing in front of me right now.

Paco, taller by a head and a half for sure, looks

down at me. I am close enough to breath in his

aromatic masculine scent. „Paco, Maria is here, she

called,“ Rodrigues brings to our knowledge, and as

it happens, the girl, who helped me earlier, stands

with the guys and grins broadly, like she saved the

world from doomsday. She approaches; at least the

others stay where they are.

„Paco, long time no see.“ Her interest for him is

plain, but not surprisingly. Paco appears incredibly

dangerous and looks unbelievably buff; even in my

situation I noticed that. The perfect mix to drive

women crazy.

„Maria, I‘m working it out.“ Paco doesn‘t seem

particularly interested. „I wanted to show you her

plaka, she doesn‘t wear it where they usually do.“

She wants to come up to me, but I meet her gaze.

„Don‘t even think about it!“ She raises her eyebrows

and my gaze falls on Paco, who starts smiling as if

he expected nothing else from me. „Sorry, but it‘s

my duty to report a Trez Punto, anyone would do

it.“ As if I am going to buy that she‘s sorry about it.

„Not me, I wouldn‘t have done it“, I reply coldy and

I mean it. „Or do I seem so threatening? If I had

seen you on our territory, I would have asked you

to leave, but I wouldn‘t called one of the guys. It‘s

not as if I was sitting here heavily armed, holding

up my plaka, I was only trying to learn.“

This is getting too much for me. I feel like I can‘t

keep up my outer facade much longer. „Maria, I‘ll

sort it out“, Paco intervenes before Maria can react

to my accusations. I watch after her as she goes to

the boys and then turn back to Paco, who smiles.

I have to control myself not to blink when I discover

his outrageously good-looking crooked grin, which

shows his white teeth. Somehow I seem to amuse

him, even though I don‘t feel like laughing at all.

„So... what‘s your name?“ It‘s a tricky question,

I hope he doesn‘t know Juan‘s sister‘s name It‘s

one thing to be a member of the familia, but it‘s

another if you‘re the leader‘s sister. If they don‘t tear

my head off, Juan will. „Bella.“ My voice doesn‘t

sound so sure this time. „How appropriate“, he still

smiles. „You realize what we could do with you

because you‘re on our territory? Let me see your

plaka. What choice do I have and unlike the others,

he asks me to. I lift up my cardigan and give him

my wrist, he takes it in his hand and strokes the

plaka with his thumb. „Why do you have it in this

place?“ I pull my wrist away and slide the cardigan

back down.

I can‘t answer him that question, and after he looks

at me a little longer than normal, his eyes get hard

again. „You‘re lucky, Bella, that I was here with you

today.“ He stops. „I‘m not coming back here.“ Our

eyes meet again. „You‘d better not. Next time you

won‘t be so lucky.“ That statement was very clear. I

nod and walk towards the exit, my tears are making

their way into my eyes, but I stubbornly look at the

door.

The boys standing a little further away with this

Maria and talking, they look at me and Chico

wants to come towards me. „Let her go!“ I don‘t

turn to my back anymore. „Paco, what the hell?

Let‘s have some fun with her, she‘s hot and that‘d

be a sign that another one of them won‘t get lost

here.“ Another one of them laughs, but apparently

Paco doesn‘t think much of it, as I can step out and

go quickly to my car.

Without stopping, I drive the two streets to the

neutral area and stop in the parking lot in front

of the university. Only then does my mind set in

properly and I realize how lucky I just was, my tears

are running down my cheek and I am trembling.

Even the next day I am still in shock and can hardly

believe what have happened. I am staying in my

room until at some point Sara shows up and I can

finally tell her what happened. I don´t leave out

any detail and from her pale face I realize again

how close it was for me.
