PROVOST GUARD
In what has been the most unusual year in our lifetime, here we are, thankfully, at the end of 2020. We
can only pray and hope that 2021 turns out to be THE best year ever!
In wrapping up this year, I can report that as soon as we received the all-clear from the Illustrious
Sir, the Provost Guard began meeting again. We were hopeful of being able to perform our parking and
security duties at some of the functions that were not already cancelled, however, as you all know, just
about everything was completely wiped out.
There were a few exceptions and some activities of the various Units and Clubs were held and some
regularly scheduled monthly meetings did take place, but almost all of the Rajah Shrine temple activities
were either cancelled or postponed to a future date. Those cancellations included both of the Provost Guard’s
Spaghetti Dinners, but we are looking forward to feeding the hungry masses next year at our two Spaghetti
Dinners scheduled for June and October. Exact dates and details will be announced in the next edition of the
Rajah News.
The good news of 2020 is that we did manage to have a successful Rajah Shrine Circus, and we had the
pleasure of seeing Illustrious Sir Marv dress up as a loveable clown.
It is the sincere wish that we can get back to a “new normal” in the coming months and that the current situation does not detract
from our fellow Nobles’ participating in future events of the temple as a whole and the continuation of each of the individual Units
and Clubs meetings, dinners and special functions.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ill. Sir Marv Miller for his outstanding leadership this past year and would like
to thank our First Lady Marie for her support and to thank both of them for their understanding, patience and guidance throughout
this tumultuous time.
And to all of the Divan members, we want to thank you for your support and encouragement and look forward to working with
each of you in the future.
Now, on behalf of President Bob Himes and all of the officers and members of your Rajah Provost Guard, we would like to
wish everyone a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY, HEALTHY NEW YEAR.
