Lions, Tigers…and Shriners? Oh my!
By Shane R. Paisley, Donor Relations Chairman
This October marked the 6th consecutive year for the Philadelphia Hospital’s Walk
for Love event. Previously held on the grounds of LuLu Shriners complex in Plymouth
Meeting, this year’s event received a pretty ‘wild’ change of scenery, partnering with the
Philadelphia Zoo to serve as the host location.
Participants received a private zoo experience with exclusive access to walk, roll or
stroll through the grounds at their leisure (with PPE and social distancing measures) before
the venue opened to the general public. Lincoln, Rajah’s very own Patient Ambassador,
was on site doing a great job of representing our Temple: welcoming participants, talking
with patients, handing out our Pote’s Pins, and eating lots of snacks (like any good
Shriner-in-training should).
Joining forces this year with Noble Jim Atkins (North Penn Shrine Club) and the
Board of Governors Team, Lincoln and Team Rajah raised over $940 in sponsorship
dollars, leading in all categories; Most Donors, Most $ Raised, and Highest Weekly $.
The event raised over $181,000 in combined donations, directly benefiting our Philadelphia Hospital. Special thanks to everyone for
their donations and support of Team Rajah. Join us in person next year!

Greetings from your String Band,
Congratulations to all the incoming Officers of Rajah Shrine. I hope we have a better 2021. All String
Band Officers will remain the same as 2020. In spite of all
the parades being cancelled this year, we were still able to
donate to the Hospital from our treasury.
We’re wishing safe travels to our snowbirds and hope
you have a great winter. We will miss you. And to everyone,
best wishes for a safe and healthy Thanksgiving, a very
Merry Christmas, and a happy New Year.
Our next meeting is tentatively in January. As always,
there is an open-door invitation for musicians to play in
the String Band. If you play an instrument, come out to a rehearsal on the second
Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Complex. If you need to brush up, we’ll help you get
started. Just come with your instrument to rehearsal.
With the support of our Ladies, our purpose is that we might play our instruments
so that someday a physically challenged child may walk and play again.

Stay safe.
