8.0 SETTLEMENTS FROM CYCLIC LOADINGAlthough it was not an integral part of this project, there were some questions which aroseduring the course of the work regarding the additional settlement which might occur in a shallowfoundation resulting from cyclic loading and/or dynamic effects of earthquakes. While no detailedreview of this subject was performed for this project, a number of references were identifiedthroughout the course of the project relating to these issues. These references are identified in thissection and include references related to both seismic loading and repetitive loading on shallowfoundations.
