Jtt iHrmnrtam Ray Ohms <strong>of</strong> Salt Lake City, Utah, a prominent figure in <strong>the</strong> world <strong>of</strong> horseshoe pitching for many years, died suddenly <strong>of</strong> a heart attack on June 22. His passing comes as a severe shock to <strong>the</strong> <strong>NHPA</strong> which expresses its deep sorrow to members <strong>of</strong> his family. Ray was a past Vice-President <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>NHPA</strong> and took an active part in making arrangements for <strong>the</strong> many World Tournaments held in Murray 1947 through 1959. He managed many <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>NHPA</strong> dinners and parties held during <strong>the</strong>se World Tournaments. Ray was also a great horseshoe pitcher, having won <strong>the</strong> Utah state title seven times and he also placed well up in <strong>the</strong> championship division <strong>of</strong> many World Tournaments. He was also active as a bowler and was a well known bowling proprietor, having managed a number <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> largest bowling establishments in Utah, and was a past president <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Utah Bowling Assoc. He was 51 years <strong>of</strong> age and was born in Milan, 111. He is survived by his widow, two sons and one daughter.
