Women’s Monday Night Book Group Carol Nemes

In a normal year, the 15 women in our Book Group take turns hosting the group monthly, either in their

homes or at the Holy Grounds Cafe at church. We decide as a group which books to read and discuss and,

with a wide range of topics and periods of history, we have interesting and thoughtful discussions. We end

our meetings enjoying dessert and conversation!

This past year, we only met in person in January and February, with the March and future meetings being

canceled due to the Coronavirus.

We began meeting again in June through October in members backyards and discussed a timely

novel, "Waking up White" by Debbie Irving.

In November, the book group got together via Zoom to check in with each other and to choose books to

discuss for the next 4 months.

We began Zoom meetings for book discussions in December.

We are looking forward to returning to our usual schedule of meeting monthly, on the third Monday night

of each month, September through June.

Our upcoming book selections and meeting places will be posted in the church bulletins, website and

weekly emails. All church women are welcome to join us for discussion of a certain book of interest or as

many as they would like to attend.

The year 2020 was a very different

year for the quilters. We met in January

and February, then didn’t meet for a

few months but were still able to pack

12 boxes of quilts—about half of our

usual amount. Box car loading day did

not happen in October, but Pastor Jim

transported the boxes to Elgin, IL for

shipment in November.
