2020 Annual Report and 2021 Ministry Plan

President’s Report – Jay Van Cleave
• The President’s Report can be found on page 3 of the Annual Report
• We had a solid 2019
• We didn’t have any big headlines but operations and finances ran smoothly
• We are notable in having two seminarians at our church
• 2020 has some plans for new initiatives to take Mount Carmel to the next level

Treasurer’s Report— Jay Van Cleave
• In 2019 we had an operating profit of nearly $10,000. Several factors played into finances this year
including lower staff cost with personal changes.
• We saw a continued decrease in revenue (giving totals), but expenses were also slightly down as well.
• Questions
• Michelle W. We had a decrease of $5,000 in social ministry; I don’t think we should be reducing
our efforts in this area.
• Jay VC – much of our internal ministries such as the quilters and meals continued to do their
work but did so under budget. We did increase our benevolences to the Synod, but did see a
decrease to Reformation.
• Doug M. What were the snow removal costs last year, I would not like to see this cost consuming
the entire Property Committee budget. Can we move snow removal cost to a separate line item in
the budget to protect property funds?
• Jay VC – Snow removal was well above the budgeted $8000 and we are working to constrain
those costs this year. Snow removal costs are under building and maintenance, but in increase in
this cost would not prevent the Property Committee from performing necessary work and
maintenance.
