The Texas State Blue Lacy:
State Dog of Texas
The Blue Lacy became the state dog of the state
of Texas in June of 2005. This legislation was signed
and adopted by the former Texas Governor, Rick
Perry. The Texas State Blue Lacy is considered a
breed of working dog which is indigenous to Texas,
and originally discovered back in the middle of
the 19th century. The United States Senate who
discovered its location origin designated this blue
lacy a true Texas dog breed according to Senate
Resolution 436.
The Blue Lacy is described as a fast and strong
animal which measures roughly twenty-one inches
in height. The female species of these dogs weigh
roughly forty-five pounds whereas the male can
weigh as much as fifty pounds. They have three
varieties of colors which range from gray to silver
to a deep charcoal. Small red accents are often
seen within these gray color variations. The eyes
of these adorable dogs are often a rich brown in
color.
The Blue Lacy is considered as quite an intelligent
dog breed and is both active and alert. As they are
naturally protective of their owners, these blue lacy
dogs make for terrific family pets.
