NPA PRACTICAL SCIENCEINCORPORATING FORENSICSCourse OutlineThis course will allow pupils to learn aboutvarious aspects of science in a forensiccontext. You’ll learn about DNA analysisChemical analysis, working with data,fingerprinting and developing skills suitableto a forensic lab. There will be practical andtheoretical work around physics chemistryand biology.The content will include lab practical skillsincluding safety and working with data. Onroute you’ll become familiar with scientificequipment and develop confidence inworking in a lab setting. The qualificationhas been mapped at SCQF level 5. Thisreflects the level of the component Unitsand the learning required of the candidates.The qualification goes beyond the demandsof an SCQF level 4 qualification due to thedegree of interpretation, planning, numericalanalysis and communication required anddue to the level of practical skills.Entry Level RecommendedEntry is at the discretion of the college.Pupils would normally be expected to haveachieved National 4 level qualifications.Course ContentStudents will have the opportunity to workin a lab setting safely on projects related toforensic science as well as chemistry,biology and physics.
