Whittier Tech was one of

eight vocational schools in

the state to receive a portion

of the $1.3 million available

to support efforts to increase

access to career and technical

education by the Baker-Polito

Administration.

The state-funded Career

Technical Initiative will prepare

students and adults for

careers in high-demand and

high-growth sectors, with

an emphasis on underserved

populations and underrepresented

groups. The funds

will allow districts to operate

Career Technical Institutes,

which run in shifts and provide

career and technical education

opportunities to high

school students and adults.

As a result of offering training

outside of traditional school

hours, career and technical

education schools are able to

serve more students.

The grants include funding

to deliver adult training,

credentialing, and placement

services in partnership with

MassHire Career Centers

and Workforce Boards.

Approximately 9,000 to

13,000 additional adult

learners are expected to earn

industry credentials, opening

opportunities for them

to obtain jobs in high-demand

skilled industries.

program or if you are a business
