It is vital that we follow the doctrine of the first apostles. In particular, when it comes to bringing people to the Lord. What do we see in Acts? We see the disciples preaching the gospel with Holy Spirit firepower. We see people, who believe, get baptized. WE SEE PEOPLE GETTING FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. We see them speak in other tongues. And in cases where people do not believe yet, or they haven’t got baptized yet, or they haven’t received the Holy Spirit yet, we see the first disciples help those people. - By preaching to them, as Paul preached to the Ephesians in Acts 19. - By baptizing them, as Philip baptized the Samarians in Acts 8. - By praying for them to receive the Holy Spirit, as Peter and John prayed for the Samarians in Acts 8. And what terminology do the apostles use when they talk about those events later? Get a crystal-clear picture of how to bring a person to the Lord. SO THAT YOU CAN GIVE NEW BELIEVERS A GOOD HEAD START IN THEIR WALK WITH THE LORD.

17 Then THEY LAID HANDS ON<br />
THEM, AND THEY RECEIVED THE<br />
HOLY SPIRIT.<br />
18 And when Simon saw that through<br />
the laying on of the apostles’ hands the<br />
Holy Spirit was given ...”<br />
Paul, another apostle, had this clear<br />
understanding also.<br />
When he met the Ephesia disciples, his<br />
first question was<br />
[Acts 19:2]<br />
“DID YOU RECEIVE THE HOLY<br />
SPIRIT WHEN YOU BELIEVED?”<br />
And then he helped the Ephesians to<br />
receive the Holy Spirit.<br />
He preached the clear gospel to them. And<br />
when they believed, he helped them to<br />
get appropriately baptized (unto the name<br />
of Jesus). And then he helped them to<br />
receive the Holy Spirit, which they did.<br />
[Acts 19:6]<br />
And WHEN PAUL HAD LAID HANDS<br />
ON THEM, THE HOLY SPIRIT CAME<br />
UPON THEM, and they spoke with<br />
tongues and prophesied.<br />
