A NEW community board made<br />
up of coastal suburbs should<br />
be created to help these areas<br />
work together to address climate<br />
change.<br />
THat is the call from Spreydon-<br />
Cashmere Community Board<br />
chairwoman Karolin Potter and<br />
Linwood-Central-Heathcote<br />
Community Board member<br />
Darrell Latham.<br />
Potter thinks there should be a<br />
board encapsulating the Coastal,<br />
Burwood, Heathcote wards<br />
and part of the Linwood Ward,<br />
where sea level rise is a threat,<br />
and will raise this with her board<br />
as an option to recommend to<br />
the city council.<br />
Latham supports Potter and<br />
raised the same idea as her about<br />
six weeks ago with a city council<br />
staff member.<br />
He said the idea was not<br />
considered an option by the staff<br />
member at the time, but he will<br />
now raise it again with his board<br />
in the elected members exchange<br />
section of its next meeting.<br />
It comes as the city council<br />
is seeking feedback on its<br />
representation review to get rid of<br />
the Linwood-Central-Heathcote<br />
Community Board and divide it<br />
into three altered boards.<br />
