Appreciated acts of kindness: When I first arrived at my university in the UK, I<br />
carried two big luggage with me. I took the train from the airport and then<br />
hopped on a bus to get to my college. Being in a new city, I was not sure which<br />
stop to get off (there was no Google Map back then!). Eventually, I got off too<br />
early and arrived at the wrong college with my two big suitcases. Luckily,<br />
another student saw the state I was in and kindly guided me and helped to<br />
carry one of my suitcases all the way to my destination. It was a small but<br />
significant act of kindness by a stranger, one that I remember over 15 years<br />
later.<br />

Kindness means: A selfless act. It is related to altruism if you want to research<br />
the psychology and biology behind it!<br />

Appreciated acts of kindness: When I first arrived in Hong Kong, I hadn’t<br />
yet learnt to check the Observatory each day during the rainy season. I<br />
forgot to take my umbrella one day and, while waiting at the pedestrian<br />
crossing, found myself in a sudden downpour. When I was just about to<br />
make a dash for it, a perfect stranger sheltered me with his umbrella, and<br />
walked with me across the road towards my building entrance. Blessings<br />
to all good Samaritans in HK!<br />
Kindness means: Finding happiness in the care and wellbeing of others.<br />
Appreciated acts of kindness: I really appreciate when a person that I<br />
don't know asks me if my day is going well so far. Even if that day had<br />
not been going well until that moment, this very small thoughtful act will<br />
boost up my mood for the rest of the day.<br />
