2020), campers MAY NOT register for more than 1 camp program (with the City of Palo Alto or any 

other agency) within a 3-week period.

works of art. We will experiment with paint, printmaking, 

collage, 3-D sculptures, and more. We 

will reuse and recycle the materials we incorporate 

into our creations as much as possible. 

Art camps will be held outside in the shade at the 

Palo Alto Art Center with a maximum of 12 campers, 

1 instructor and 1 intern. Instructors, interns, 

Art Center staff, and campers will be required to 

wear face masks. Art supplies will be dedicated 

to each camper for the duration of the camp and 

shared supplies will be sanitized before and after 

each use. The Art Center will have nightly cleaning. 

Please bring a water bottle since the drinking 

fountains at the Art Center will be closed.

The Palo Alto Art Center is continuing its a Virtual 

Wheel Program for students who have taken 

Kathleen Gordon’s wheel class in the past*. This 

class is a unique opportunity for you to rent a potter’s 

wheel for 5** weeks. Kathleen will provide a 

weekly virtual lesson and introduce new projects 

and techniques. 

The price of the class includes 5 weeks Wheel 

Rental, 1 bag of clay and the glazes you’ll need to 

complete your projects, and weekly video project 

instructions via Zoom with Kathleen.

1-hour assessment session to see if the wheel 

class is right for you. Students will be responsible 

for bringing their artwork to be fired to the Art

use (in a garage is fine). 

The total charge for this class is $391 plus $60 

for delivery and pick up of the wheel, if needed. 

There is a $350 deposit that is required and 

will be returned to students upon receipt of the 

wheel in good condition. Extra bags of clay may 

be purchased during the session for $25 each 

which includes bisque and glaze firing to complete 

the artwork.

Adventure is built on the same tried and true principles 

as our Foothills Fun and Day Camps, but developed 

specifically for middle school aged youth. Longer hikes, 

more sophisticated non-contact games and activities, 

and weekly challenges with the Foothills Camp Staff. 

Unfortunately this summer, the overnight and other 

night activities are not included. Campers need to be 

picked up everyday at the given time. Drop off and pick 

up location is at Foothills Park located at 3300 Page 

Mill Rd, Los Altos Hills, CA. Bus transportation to the 

Foothills Park is not available this summer.

have a few options of projects to choose from and 

spend the remaining time at camp developing and creating 

their project. Mentors will aid in project-building, 

and encourage students to learn as they go while offering 

their expertise and knowledge where applicable. In 

this hands-on environment, students will pick up the 

skills they need to learn through the making process.

CIT for Foothills and Mitchell Park Camps 

With an emphasis on service, initiative, and leadership, the City of Palo Alto Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program 

provides an opportunity for teens ages 13 and 14 to take a lead in our historic summer camps. CITs are 

mentored by camp staff to build leadership skills, gain experience, and earn community service hours. 

CITs will get a similar work experience as do Palo Alto part-time staff, complete with training and held to the 

same standards, though on a volunteer basis. A great way to gain valuable skills to add to your resumes and 

college applications! Please note that CITs must complete an application and interview to participate in 

this program. Upon completion of a successful interview, CITs will be provided a registration code. For more

SKYHAWKS CAMPS 2021 

Max: 12 

Skyhawks summer camp has been completely modified 

to adhere to the latest requirement of local and 

state health officials. All camps will be run with strict 

health protocols and social distancing. A maximum 

of 12 children per session will enjoy traditional 

camp activities such as games, music, nature walks, 

arts and crafts, movies, and individual sports skills. 

Coaches will stay with their session for the entire 

three weeks, with no mixing with other camps 

to keep your child safe! Located at Peers Park. No 

Camp on Monday July 5th due to a City Holiday. 

Please bring your own mask and water bottle. 

SKATEBOARDING CAMP 2021 

Max: 12 

Challenge yourself and build self-confidence with a 

focus on safety, skateboarding fundamentals, conditioning 

and technique. Each day is structured as 

skateboarding lessons, education, snack time, game 

time and play time. Helmets are required and safety 

pads are strongly recommended. Parents must sign
