March’s issue day highlighted Social Services. The focus on this issue day was to learn about the Social Services programs in Chandler and the importance of community involvement as it relates to volunteerism, philanthropy, and engagement. The class had the opportunity to hear from 6 nonprofit organizations located right here in Chandler, sharing with the group the mission of their organizations, the evolving needs they have faced due to the pandemic, and ways that the community can join them in their efforts. The class was also joined by Trinity Donovan, CEO of AZCEND, who provided great insight on the roles of nonprofit organization board members, and how they are crucial to the success of an organization. The program concluded with the group’s second Diversity, Equity & Inclusion workshop, facilitated by Tyler Conaway with PayPal, which focused on understanding what a community is, and how to effectively engage with our communities.
