Performing artsTheatreA Christmas Carol: An Audio DramaWhen theatre faculty first realized COVID-19 would require them to create theatrewithout ever setting foot in Wood-Mar Auditorium this year, they immediately startedbrainstorming alternative ways to tell stories that would both train students in thefundamentals of the art, while also providing entertainment for virtual audiences. Thus,they presented George Fox University’s first audio show in December, and dove into theworld of audio production, similar to an old-time radio drama.The faculty is thankful for the opportunity to explore and create in new ways, and theyare proud of how well their students rose to the occasion. The performance featured avocal quartet and a flute in collaboration with Danielle Warner and the music program onthis special event. In his director’s notes, Rhett Luedtke encouraged the audience to turninward, as he said, “May your hard edges be softened, may your hearts be warmed, andmay you lean into a life of second chances.”The Student Collective 99
