AB Book Launch
Three local residents have written a book about life in
Appley Bridge during the war. Steven Smith, Barbara
Dix and Anne Fletcher launched ‘Appley Bridge and the
Second World War’ earlier this month.
The book carries details about life during WW2 in the
village and memories of those who lived through the war.
There are tales of bravery and kindness, and also details of
the men whose are named on the war memorial.
The book is available to order at a price of £6 and all profits
go to the Royal British Legion. For more information
about ordering a copy of the book please contact the
Summer School
The first days of secondary school have always been scary
for most kids, but an initiative at Shevington High School
aims to ease that anxiety this year. Pupils currently in Y6,
who already have a place at Shevington High School in
September are invited to register their interest in Summer
School 2021.
This is a fantastic opportunity for children to meet their
peers ahead of starting school in September. The week
will take place from Monday 26th July to Friday 30th
July, and places will be free due to the introduction of
government funding. Parents can register their interest by
following this link https://forms.gle/56FkR5jAtjLmcYFn9
and submitting the requested information, or call the
school on 01257 400900 for more information.
