Set across a stunning and fully interactive site, the Dean Heritage Centre protects and preserves the unique history and heritage of the beautiful Forest of Dean. With five acres to explore and a wide range of attractions, artefacts and displays, the Centre offers something for everyone, all set against a spectacular forest backdrop. Five on site galleries bring the history of the Forest to life, from the Ice Age to the present day; along with a reconstructed Foresters cottage, charcoal burner’s camp, Victorian schoolroom and woodland playground to enjoy as part of your visit. Relax in the Dean Heritage Centre Gallery & Coffee Shop to enjoy the current art exhibition and sample delicious homemade snacks and cakes overlooking the millpond and forest. There’s always something new and exciting to interest, inspire and surprise you at the Dean Heritage Centre; a great day out for all the family.

Food lovers can enjoy freshly cooked food and be tempted by lunch, coffee or tea with homemade cakes in the cafe. Discover a range of distinctive gifts from the Gift Shop or visit the Home & Fashion Shop where you will find fairly traded clothing, accessories, homewares and gifts. There are around eleven designer makers and artisan businesses on-site where you can see people at work and have the opportunity to learn about and perhaps buy something distinctive direct from the maker. These daily offerings are complemented by regular activities including specialist markets, exhibitions and creative workshops throughout school holidays. As part of the Camphill Village Trust, Taurus Crafts is ‘a place with purpose’ operating the shops and café with mixed ability teams, providing work placements and supported employment for people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health challenges and complex needs.
