Found within the city of Gloucester is an internationally important<br />
collection of treasures of over 750,000 objects…<br />
The Museum of Gloucester is the most unique cultural and family<br />
destination in the city, telling the story of the city’s origins as a Roman<br />
settlement and its subsequent development through the ages.<br />
This fine Victorian building houses a significant collection of art including<br />
paintings by Richard Wilson, Thomas Gainsborough to name a few and the<br />
archaeology collection includes the world-famous Birdlip Mirror and the<br />
Gloucester Tables Set; the oldest complete backgammon set in the world.<br />
Highlights also include a Roman kitchen and Medieval street, plus part of<br />
the original Roman wall can also be viewed within the museum.<br />
The Museum of Gloucester is proud to offer FREE admission, but rely<br />
on donations to allow them to continue to preserve and display their<br />
historical collection for generations to come...<br />
