TRIP TO AMBURY FARM

Our Year 11 Science

students had a field trip

at Ambury Park during

Term 1.

The purpose of the

trip was to enhance

knowledge on animal

genetics and selective

breeding.

The students learnt the

differences between

breeds of sheep and

cattle and how to

recognise the dominant

characteristics and the

how these are passed to

their offspring.

The students also

acquired knowledge to

identify and distinguish

dairy and meat cattle.

Students were also

exposed to how to

identify cattle breeds

and to see how their

characteristics are

related to their uses and

the conditions they are

bred for.
