Opening the Gardens<br />
On 28 May the <strong>College</strong> was proud to open its gardens to the public, for a small fee<br />
of £3 in support of the National Gardens Scheme (NGS). With the help of many<br />
supporters on the day and the hard work of the Grounds team, we welcomed 118<br />
visitors to enjoy the sunshine in our glorious gardens. This year’s opening coincided<br />
with the NGS celebrating its ninetieth anniversary: it raises money for a number<br />
of nursing charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice<br />
UK, Carers Trust and Parkinson’s Care. Last year it raised £2,700,000, mainly by<br />
persuading some very grand gardens to open their doors. This year we are immensely<br />
proud to have contributed £354 to the NGS from ticket sales and just over £115 to<br />
AMREF from our plant sale. Our thanks go to Mike, Ellie, Maurice and Ryan for<br />
preparing the gardens for this special event. Here are three of the comments from<br />
