Twenty-five years of working together<br />

JS: It’s amazing to think that we’ve worked together for over twenty-five years now.<br />
I arrived in March 1992 and you in September of the same year. Of course you were<br />
already an ‘old hand’, having worked here for nine years in the 1970s. But in the<br />
years we’ve been here together, we’ve shared a few memorable moments!<br />
SH: Bill Hoffenberg was just starting his final year as President when I started as<br />
President’s PA, and it was a very enjoyable time.<br />
JS: Yes, they were good times. Do you remember that Margaret Hoffenberg used<br />
to invite all the female office staff to a delicious three-course lunch in the Lodgings<br />
which she cooked herself?<br />
SH: In fact, she cooked two lunches as there were too many staff to get round the<br />
table in one sitting.<br />
JS: At that time I was Administrative Secretary (i.e. Common Room Administrator)<br />
with an office far down the corridor beyond the General Office (now part of the new<br />
library extension), and Janet Walker was <strong>College</strong> Secretary.<br />
SH: Yes, I remember that a week after I started, having had no handover, Janet went<br />
