Membeship coffee at June's<br />
<strong>Cannock</strong> <strong>and</strong> District Soroptimists were delighted<br />
to take advantage of the eas<strong>in</strong>g of lockdown <strong>and</strong><br />
meet together <strong>in</strong> the garden of Soroptimist June<br />
Bould to mark Membership Month <strong>and</strong> enjoy coffee,<br />
cake <strong>and</strong> friendship. Everyone enjoyed the chance to<br />
actually talk to each other face-to-face at long last!<br />
Newest member Jill Mason, one of the club's longer<br />
serv<strong>in</strong>g members Carole Holdcroft (a member for 34<br />
years), <strong>and</strong> Club President Jackie Pr<strong>in</strong>ce, all spoke of their<br />
reasons for jo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Soroptimist International <strong>and</strong> what it<br />
is that they enjoy about their membership. They each said<br />
that they had been drawn by what <strong>Cannock</strong> & District<br />
Soroptimists actually do, certa<strong>in</strong>ly the th<strong>in</strong>gs they do to<br />
help locally but also the work nationally <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>in</strong>ternationally to enable, educate <strong>and</strong> empower women<br />
<strong>and</strong> girls. Each of them likes to help others <strong>and</strong> recognises<br />
the strength of people work<strong>in</strong>g together to channel that<br />
help. But the th<strong>in</strong>g that then keeps their <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>and</strong><br />
enthusiasm alive is the friendship <strong>and</strong> the experiences.<br />
President Jackie thanked Membership Chair June for<br />
host<strong>in</strong>g such a fabulous morn<strong>in</strong>g; she complimented<br />
everyone on what they have done over the last year<br />
dur<strong>in</strong>g several lockdowns <strong>and</strong> said how much she's<br />
look<strong>in</strong>g forward to them all work<strong>in</strong>g together <strong>in</strong> the<br />
com<strong>in</strong>g year, as they prove that "it's what you do that<br />
counts".<br />
