Regardless of whether they are international<br />

or German citizens, all residents<br />

of a city are required to register, so that<br />

there everyone’s current addresses are<br />

on file. The resident registration office<br />

(das Einwohnermeldeamt or die Meldestelle)<br />

is usually located in the old town<br />

hall (das Rathaus).<br />
