CROCHETING
FOR CHARITY
Over the past year and throughout lockdowns,
Year 12 girls doing their Silver and Gold DofE
volunteering at St Mary’s Calne have been working
very hard to make beautiful crochet blankets to raise
money for The Harbour Project in Swindon.
The Harbour Project helps and supports those who
have risked their lives, families and homes fleeing war
and persecution, giving friendship and hope for the
future since the Kosovo crisis. The Head Girl’s Team
at St Mary’s had selected The Harbour Project as the
charity to support during the academic year 2020-21.
The girls have previously raised money for the charity
by designing and selling tracksuit bottoms and,
at Christmas, the staff had donated money to the
charity and signed a giant Christmas card for them.
The girls also crocheted poppy brooches to raise money
for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2020.
