38 Speak Now for 2023 If you’re involved in or enjoy arts and culture, St Helens Borough Council wants to hear your views. The Borough is in line to be the Liverpool City Region’s Borough of Culture in 2023, and the Council have organised two events for you to share your views on how to make 2023 a successful year for arts and culture in St Helens. What would you like the arts and cultural programme to say about the Borough in 2023? Both sessions will be facilitated by St Helens Borough Council Arts and Library Services in partnership with the host venues. The first event is on Monday 13 September from 6pm to 8pm at The Citadel Theatre, and the second event is on Friday 17 September from 10am to 12 noon at The World of Glass. All are welcome to be involved. To reserve your ticket, please search ‘St Helens Borough of Culture 2023’ on www.eventbrite.co.uk. If you cannot attend either session, please register your interest with cathshea@ sthelens.gov.uk. Chance to Dance Linedancers of all ages and abilities are invited along to Rainford X Sports and Social Club on Bushey Lane in Rainford Junction for fun on the dance floor. Hosted by Graham and Jean Troughton, the line dance sessions take place every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8.00pm to 10.00pm. The club has been running for approximately ten years on a non-profit basis, and additional social nights are organised at Christmas and other times of year for members and their friends. Complete beginners can be assured that the instructors take time to teach easy dances too and there are always people in the class willing to help. Those who have danced before can expect a mixture of old and new dances but nothing too difficult. The classes are all about encouraging people to have some light-hearted and enjoyable exercise as well as meeting and making new friends. The charge per session is just £3.
