10 WAYS
TO HOLIDAY IN
Marvellous
Marbella
Sunshine, authentic Andalucían charm, and mouthwatering cuisine provide the perfect welcome
to Marbella in the Costa del Sol. But there’s so much more to discover right outside your luxury resort.
Here’s our top tips to make the most of marvellous Marbella.
1 EXPLORE ANDALUCÍA’S WHITE VILLAGES
Create holiday envy among your friends by clicking photos during your 4X4 tour of the historic whitewashed villages of
Andalucía, such as Casares and Gaucin, which perch over valleys with breathtaking views. While you’re here you’ll get a
glimpse into traditional olive oil and leather production.
2 ...OR DO YOU FEEL MORE BLUE
Among all the Andalucían whitewash is the village of Júzcar, which was painted a vivid blue for filming the 2011 film, The
Smurfs. Hike through or rock climb this playful backdrop to find fun remnants left from the movie.
3 HIT THE BOUTIQUES OF EXCLUSIVE PUERTO BANÚS
Puero Banús is Marbella’s fashionable marina, where you’ll find upscale designer boutiques. Spend the day here with
a personal shopper and celebrate your new purchases with a bite to eat and a decadent glass of Möet in a waterfront
restaurant as you watch the yachts bob away on the harbour.
4 SAIL AWAY WITH US
Join the jetsetting marina crowd yourself! Charter a luxury yacht or state-of-the-art catamaran and enjoy sailing the
Mediterranean Sea and the Strait of Gibraltar.
5 DID SOMEONE SAY WINE TOUR?
We did! Southern Spanish wines are amazing, from Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to the famous
Andalucían tipple of sherry. Venture to local vineyards, such as the Finca Descalzos Viejos winery, and other local
bodegas (wine cellars). Hic.
6 WANDER IN CASCO ANTIGUO
Partly ensconced by the ruins of Moorish walls and Alcazaba fortress, Marbella’s quaint Old Town is teeming with
fascinating attractions. Head to the beautiful squares of Plaza de los Naranjos and Plaza de Altamirano, the 18th
century park of Paseo del Alameda, and the 16th century Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación. There’s also a
Spanish Contemporary Engravings Museum, which boasts a permanent collection of art from the likes of Goya, Picasso,
Miró, and Dalí.
7 DELIGHT IN DALÍ
Speaking of Andalucía’s surrealist genius Salvador Dalí, you can experience an art gallery under the sky as you stroll
down the promenade of Avenida del Mar, which hosts 10 of the artist’s sculptures.
8 TEE OFF
The golf scene is big in Marbella. In fact there are over forty golf courses, including a few world-class fairways, less than
an hour away. You’re not a true golfer until you’ve experienced Mediterranean clubhouse culture!
9 TRIP AWAY FOR THE DAY
Marbella is ideally positioned for exciting full day trips, whether that’s to the Andalucían cities of Seville and Granada,
the coastal town of Mijas, or the birthplace of the modern Spanish bullfight, Ronda. You can even spend a day over in
Gibraltar or Morocco!
10 BE DAZZLED BY THE BEACHES
Did we mention that Marbella - the town named after its ‘beautiful sea’ - also has beautiful beaches? Many - such as
Guadalmina, Linda Vista, and San Pedro Alcántara - are Blue Flag certified. There are so many public beaches to
explore, which come with beach lounger and parasol rentals, restroom facilities, and lifeguards on duty.
