6THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 16, 2021POLITICSNEWMADINA.COMMCE visits political partiesBy Marshall BobobeeThe founder and Presidentof Cp-Code, Mr. FidelTetteh, has advised theyouth and graduates toexplore opportunities inthe agribusiness sector asa major source ofemployment.He gave the advice at the 2018Agribusiness Dialogue organized by Cp-Code, in collaboration with the StudentRepresentative Council (SRC) ofWisconsin International UniversityCollege, Ghana (WIUC-Ghana) at northLegon campus of the university.The event, which presented a platformfor dialogue, exhibition and networking,was on the theme: “Agriculture:Opportunities, success stories, andgraduate employment”.The aim was to promote thetransformation of agribusiness in Ghanawith a strong drive by agro-processors tosource raw materials locally, as well asshare ideas on new opportunities, successstories and lessons from agribusinessentrepreneurs.It was attended by farmers, traders,commodity brokers, input companies,machinery and equipment providers,transporters, students, packaging andprocessing companies, among others.According to Mr Tetteh, the initiativestarted last year and the idea was tomobilize the youth to start thinkingagriculture “because we realized there areso many opportunities in theagribusiness sector, especially for theyouth.”He said after his national service inTamale, having visited a few villagesnearby, he saw potential in theagaricultural value chain, henceembarking on this project.“We want to help the youth to partnerone another, network, learn from the— Assures them of his supportother young people who are in theagribusiness sector. Some are alsoconfuse, not knowing which career topursue but I think agric is the wayforward.“You can do it part time or full time.This programme is to teach them, shareexperiences, network and mentor,” hesaid.After the second year of organizing theAgribusiness Dialogue, Mr Tetteh believesthe feedback had been good, adding thatthere may be the need to go nationwide,given invitations received from the Voltaand northern regions.He revealed plans to exploreAgriculture Tourism potentials thatwould allow participants to tour farms,processing centers, factories and othersectors in the agriculture value chain toinspire them to go into agriculture.Wisconsin news interacted with someof the participants after the programme.One of them, Madam YaganomaBaatuolkuu, the Founder of Wanjo Africa,said she was happy to be part of the event,adding, “There were so many experts withlots of information and knowledge thatwere shared and I even regret for notcoming earlier than I did.”Wanjo Africa is an agribusiness firmthat deals in traditional food crops,particularly non-cash crops which areprocessed into beverages, sauces, jams andother products.For his part, Mr emmanuel Ampadu,the Chief executive Officer and Cofounderof Pure and Just Food CompanyLtd, said the programme was veryinformative and insightful.“We have learnt a lot and I think weneed more of such programmes.
