You’re in for a rare treat if you head to The Lightbox Gallery this autumn.
A major exhibition of Old Masters Drawings is on loan from one of
the UK’s most significant collections and will be showing until 5
December. Amassed by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Dukes of Devonshire,
the Chatsworth collection of Old Masters Drawings comprises
around 1,800 works by some of the most important artists of
the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. Over 60 pieces from the
collection will feature as part of an exhibition partnership
between Chatsworth, Museums Sheffield, and The Lightbox.
Featuring works by da Vinci, Poussin, Rembrandt, Rubens, van
Dyck, and more, the exhibition is the largest display of drawings
from the collection in over twenty years. You'll be able to view
the selection of delicate drawings, which represents some of the
highlights of The Devonshire Collections for the first time and
exclusively, en masse. During your visit you can also find out
about the gallery’s fantastic Art and Wellbeing programme which
provides free community workshops for those living with dementia
and their carers, those affected by mental health issues, those in
local care homes and hospices and clients of the nearby York Road
