The internationally renowned Red Dot is an annual competition which appraises the very best products from across the globe. Honouring a select group from thousands of entries, Red Dot winners are chosen by an international jury which seeks products that significantly stand out for their exceptional design. As such. the distinctive ‘Red Dot’ has gained world-wide recognition as one of the most sought-after seals of quality design. Bloc Blinds has seen sales of its awardwinning BlocOut blind rise almost 250% YOY. It darkens rooms effectively with the aim of ensuring peaceful and restful sleep, providing complete light exclusion while simultaneously reducing drafts and heat loss by up to 43%. Bloc Blinds managing director, Cormac Diamond said: “We are over the moon to receive this honour. The Red Dot accreditation further validates our mission to foster world-class design capability and is the icing on the cake.” Red Dot judges stated “Thanks to its especially sophisticated material composition, the BlocOut performs outstandingly in its function as a blackout element while additionally improving the indoor climate.” NEWS IN BRIEF Connected home specialist, Somfy, has recently announced the appointment of Elliot Webb as key account manager overseeing the company’s UK and Northern Ireland operations. Elliot joins the senior management team during a crucial period of growth and opportunity at Somfy, as individuals and businesses focus their attention on optimising their home and workspaces due to the pandemic. Elliot will manage and oversee Somfy’s interest in the residential and industrial garage doors, implementing new sales strategies while directly supporting key customers within the UK and NI. Elliot has worked with Somfy since 2018, when he was appointed as regional sales manager in the southwest for interior window coverings. During his tenure as regional sales manager, Elliot managed a variety of small to mediumsized business customers spanning manufacturers and retailers. Prior to joining Somfy, Elliot worked his way up the ranks at car rental service, Enterprise, starting as a trainee manager as part of a graduate scheme before eventually managing one of the firm’s largest branches in the south of England. Commenting on his new appointment, Elliot said: “I made the decision to move to Somfy in 2018 because it seemed like a business that would allow me to grow personally and professionally, and that’s certainly been the case.
