Captains Report

Reading Country Club

Dear Nomads,

The August monthly game marks one year of my Captaincy, it has been a most amazing

journey thusfar! A period that has provided us with many new and indifferent experiences

on and off the golf course and with that we have all had the opportunity to grow

as individuals and collectively as an organisation. During my incoming address a year

ago I spoke about the goals that I had for my term namely, building partnerships with

our local sponsors, enhance member to member business activity and most important

of all see how we can grow our membership base.

I would like to thank my committee for all their hard work during the past 12 months,

but we are not done yet………..

I am very happy to report that all our monthly games have been sponsored, sometimes

by 2 or more members an idea that I believe has paid dividends and I would like to

thank all those members who have supported a monthly game.

We will need to work harder on our value proposition to potential local sponsors, who

will be able to advertise on holes at the monthly games as well as our website, magazine

and facebook page. I believe that the sponsorship portfolio has learnt a lot in the

last 12 months and it’s about taking those experiences using what has worked and combining

with new initiatives and moving forward.

In terms of our full members the number has decreased from 110 – 101 in comparison

to the same time last year, therefore it goes without saying that we have had a number

of members resigning due to various reasons, however we have also inducted 9 new

members during the same period and 2 transfers in, one from Western Province and the

other from Zimbabwe. Once again we must as a collective look to introduce golfers to

Nomads during our monthly games, and on the other spectrum we must improve our

value proposition to prospective members and make our monthly games as enjoyable

as possible.

Moving onto our monthly game at Reading Golf Club, all I can say is that it was cold,

standing on that first tee I had no feeling in my hands, nevertheless turned into a great

day.

To Donovan Maine and everyone involved at Reading Golf Club we thank you for your

hospitality and the use of your facilities.

To my fourball Captain of Reading GC Awie Van Der Merwe, Mike Fick and Francis

Themane, thank you, we did “defrost” and thoroughly enjoy the day. I look forward to

seeing Awie at more of our monthly games in the future.

To the Sponsor of the day:

Neill Malherbe - Nape Signage Solutions – Services offered:

• Labels, name badges;

• Vehicle decals, banners,

• Flags, popup banners;

• Gazebos, promotional wear,

• Corporate wear,

Vehicle wrapping, vehicle magnets.

On behalf of all the Easterns Nomads, thank you for your passion, commitment and support,

your contribution goes far beyond the monthly game and allows the Easterns Nomads

to do the great work that we do.

Our next game is at Ebotse on Sunday morning the 12 th of September, I look forward to

seeing everyone at the game.

A freezing cold morning, with iced up greens did not

deter the guys from playing their monthly game with all

the mates.

Conditions were obviously really tough out there with

the average score being only 25.6!

Was good to be able to have some sense of normality

with a prize giving again!

Our next game is in less than 2 weeks at Ebotse!

Hopefully we will see our fields increase in size, and

begin to hold our normal games.

The faster we are all vaccinated, the quicker our normal

lives will be able to resume!

Dear Nomads,

Ebotse once again did not disappoint, from our first engagement with the club, on the day
