3.6.5 eligibility for hous<strong>in</strong>g association accommodation<br />
Hous<strong>in</strong>g association accommodation (Genossenschaftswohnungen) receives special support, often<br />
through a purchase option. The tenants are members of the hous<strong>in</strong>g association and pay a<br />
so-called “cooperative share” (Genossenschaftsanteil) which is determ<strong>in</strong>ed by the size and age of<br />
the accommodation.<br />
To qualify for hous<strong>in</strong>g association accommodations, you will need to satisfy certa<strong>in</strong> formal preconditions<br />
(e.g. m<strong>in</strong>imum age requirement, <strong>Austria</strong>n or EEA citizenship or recognized refugee status, etc)<br />
and your <strong>in</strong>come may not exceed a certa<strong>in</strong> upper limit. The upper limit for the <strong>in</strong>dividual prov<strong>in</strong>ces is<br />
governed by the current hous<strong>in</strong>g promotion laws (Wohnbauförderungsgesetze).<br />
