Prior to expiry of the three-month period EU/EEA citizens have to report their tak<strong>in</strong>g up of residence<br />

to the residence authorities (district adm<strong>in</strong>istrative authority (Bezirkshauptmannschaft) or the municipal<br />

authority (Magistrat); the authorities will then issue a “registration certificate” (Anmeldebesche<strong>in</strong>igung).<br />

If the family members (spouse, children, partners, etc.) are also EU/EEA citizens their tak<strong>in</strong>g<br />

up of residence must be also registered by means of a “registration certificate” (Anmeldebesche<strong>in</strong>igung).<br />

EU/EEA citizens can apply for an “official photographic identification for EEA citizens” (Lichtbildausweis<br />

für EWR-Bürger) with the responsible district adm<strong>in</strong>istrative authority (Bezirkshauptmannschaft)<br />

or at the police headquarters (Polizeidirektion).<br />

For privileged nationals of third states, i.e. family members of EU/EEA citizens who are not<br />

EU/EEA/Swiss citizens, the follow<strong>in</strong>g is applies: such residence permits can be applied for <strong>in</strong> <strong>Austria</strong><br />

follow<strong>in</strong>g entry on a visa-waiver basis (sichtvermerksfreier E<strong>in</strong>reise) or entry with a visa.<br />

The required documents are to be presented <strong>in</strong> orig<strong>in</strong>al copy and a court certified translation <strong>in</strong>to<br />

German upon application submission.<br />

Certa<strong>in</strong> taxes and duties for animals have to be paid <strong>in</strong> almost all municipalities. The amount of the<br />
