On the road
to success
Last year, millions of pounds were spent maintaining and improving our roads and a series of
exciting projects saw moves to make it easier, safer and greener to get around the borough.
Here we have a look back at some of the projects from the last 12 months of great work.
Over £2,600,000 spent on maintaining and
repairing more than 25km of roads and
paths at 80 sites. This is £500,000 more
than was spent in 2020.
Casualties on our roads are at their
lowest levels with no fatal
accidents last year.
New Report It scheme has made it easier for
residents to report potholes. Over the last 10
years the number of potholes needing repair
has dropped by a third. All potholes that
meet our repair criteria are fixed.
Innovative recycling of road materials
to carry out repairs at two sites meant
that 2,000 tons of material was
reused rather than sent to landfill.
Road safety lessons in schools and
school crossing patrols returned after
lockdown.
Hurworth.
Tees Valley is one of the first areas to join the National Underground Asset Register which maps
