track for £1.6m investment
As managing director of the
academy, which has been using the complex for the last
12 years, Martin Gray was especially ecstatic about the
funding.
Reacting to the news, he said: “It’s really exciting that the
approval for the £1.6m funding has happened.
“So many people, including our partners and the council,
worked extremely hard to pull together an achievable
proposal.
“Now that the work can go ahead, we can see more people
get involved with grassroots sports, bringing together
people from across our communities to enjoy the facilities
on offer at the complex.”
As well as updating and extending the outdoor facilities,
the site will also be made more secure with improvements
to the fencing surrounding the pitches and running track.
This will mean that when a match or race is on at the
complex, visitors and participants will be safer on site.
