New year, new job?
Fancy kicking the new year off with a brand new job?
Durham Constabulary is launching a major recruitment
drive for new police constables.
The force is looking for individuals who are hardworking,
relish a challenge, can apply common sense and who
have a minimum of two A levels.
In return, the force is offering a generous benefits
package including the chance to complete a police
constable degree apprenticeship in conjunction with
Northumbria University.
Under the degree apprenticeships, student officers will
study towards a degree in professional policing practice
as part of a three-year training programme while
working as a police officer.
Your university fees will be paid by the force and you
will be a paid police officer from day one, with a starting
salary of £24,780.
Graduates who apply may be able to complete a twoyear
shortened diploma course.
Successful candidates will join the force from May.

joined Durham Constabulary two
years ago and has never looked
back.
“Do it – it’s the best job you’re ever
going to do,” he said.
“I joined and I love it. Policing is a
marathon not a sprint – that’s something
the chief said to me on my very first shift
and it’s just trying to understand that
every day is a learning day.”
