traffic. In addition to the circle, the intersection of
Orchard Drive and Orchard Road was realigned.
2. The Monaco Street Traffic Circles. These traffic circles
were originally installed in the late 1990s as a traffic
calming measure; helping reduce speeds along the
roadway. The existing circles were hard to maintain and
not very aesthetically pleasing. The Village developed a
new design that was more aesthetically pleasing, more
cohesive with the Village’s existing structural features, and
easier to maintain.
3. The implementation of a digital approach to capital
projects and right of way permits by our Public Works
Department. Public Works implemented the Trimble R2
Unit to inventory annual pavement and concrete
rehabilitation contracts such as asphalt patch locations,
asphalt crack repair, utility adjustments, and concrete
panel replacement. This program allows the Village to
better manage our substantial pavement rehabilitation
program by bringing efficiency, precision, accountability,
and forethought to our annual maintenance and project
permitting processes.
GV AWARDED THREE ELECTRIC
VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS
I am pleased to announce the Village has been awarded three
(3) grants to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
These grants were awarded by the Regional Air Quality
Council (RAQC) through its Charge Ahead Colorado
program. These EV charging stations will be multi-port
stations that are capable of charging up to two vehicles at a
time. The charging stations will be placed in two Village
locations:
Two EV charger stations will be placed at City Hall: one in
the parking lot that serves William McKinley Carson Park
and the other in the main City Hall parking lot. The third
EV charging station will be placed on a public easement
within the Arapahoe Entertainment District. These stations
will complement the existing charging stations previously
installed at the city’s maintenance facility.
The RAQC grant provides the Village up to $9,000 per
charging station or approximately 80% of the multi-port
charging station expense. This grant requires the Village to
provide the remaining 20% as a match. Staff will begin
soliciting bids in January and the charging stations should be
operational this summer.
All the best to you and yours in 2022!
