As a lifelong
Bristol City
supporter,
Ryley Towler
was a regular in the South
Stand not all that long ago.
Now he’s pushing himself to
be among the next Academy
graduates as one of the first
names on the team sheet.
The year of 2021 was a
breakthrough one for Towler,
whose debut for his boyhood
club came in the Emirates FA
Cup away to Sheffield United 11
months ago.
He continued to taste first-team
football in the Championship
which opened his eyes to the
pressures and demands of the
game at a completely new level,
but the 19-year-old Bristolian
isn’t fazed by the challenge.
Towler told THE ROB NS: “Having
played in the Championship a
little bit I’ve seen that when
you make a mistake you are
easily punished. It’s quicker and
another level of physicality. To
play that week-in, week-out you
have to be a very good player
and that’s where I want to be.
“Now I just want to play
as many games as I can
to continue learning and
improving. I want to pick up tips
from the other players around
me and make myself as good a
player as I can be.”
Towler was speaking to the
club’s official online programme
after finishing training at the
Robins High Performance
Centre, where he has recently
returned from a loan at Grimsby
Town.
