Cancer Council’s first
Indigenous collaboration
to create a sun
protection collection,
the ‘Journey of
Hope’ by artist Riki Salam, aims
to spark important conversations
around cancer and how this serious
disease impacts First Nations
communities.
“Cancer is not an easy topic to
talk about. With the Journey of
Hope collection, we wanted to
reinforce the importance of this
conversation with both Indigenous
and non-Indigenous peoples and
demonstrate a simple way of getting
involved and supporting First
Nations communities with their
cancer journeys,” Mr Salam said.
The limited edition collection
features 15 beautifully-designed
swimwear pieces including rashies
and paddle suits for all ages
plus bright beach umbrellas and
cabanas to help protect skin from
harmful effects of sun exposure
and to keep Aussie families safe in
the sun.
As well as raising awareness, sales
will help fund Cancer Council’s
prevention and support programs
for Indigenous Australians. For
LAST WEEK’S ANSWER
Last week’s photo was taken on
Bundarra Street in Ermington. Did
you guess right?
Each week we want you to contribute
to our thumbs up! Tell us something
good that has happened to you
around Parramatta. Maybe someone
helped you with a broken down car, or
you experienced amazing service at a business
or restaurant. Perhaps it’s an exciting new shop
or park you’ve just discovered. Email your contributions
to news@parranews.com.au and help us
spread some good news!
Fake news stories about children
being seriously affected by COVID-19
vaccination are doing the rounds
on social media. It’s no surprise you
haven’t seen these stories in the mainstream
or local media... because they’re not
true! The quicker people accept that what they
read on social media should often be taken with
a grain of salt, the better. Stop being so gullible
and foolish!
