Roofing & Waterproofing
THE KNOWLEDGE CENTRE
In a move to provide even easier access to content that can assist the supply chain in
delivering projects that perform as designed and stand the test of time, Sika has
expanded its online Knowledge Centre to further meet customers’ requirements when
it comes to waterproofing and roofing. Total Contractor finds out more…
Sika has included a range of expert roofing
advice as part of its Knowledge Centre, an
educational portal which is designed for
customers to build on their trade skills.
The e-Learning platform features a series of ondemand
webinars, which are free and available to
view at any time. Webinar subjects covered
include green roof systems, the launch of Sika’s
structural roof waterproofing system SikaBit
ProMelt, and its metal roof refurbishment
solution, Sika Pro-Tecta.
In addition, CPDs titled ‘Successful Roof
Refurbishment’ and a presentation on ‘Selecting
a Flat Roofing System to Meet Modern
Demands’ are also available to view on demand
here: https://gbr.knowledge.sika.com/page/ondemand-webinars.
The Sika Knowledge Centre
also offers in-depth guidance related to Sika
products in the flooring, and concrete
refurbishment sector.
Cheryl Douglas, Head of Marketing at Sika
Limited, explained: “Within a diverse landscape
of roofing technologies, the Sika Knowledge
Centre presents an opportunity to get to grips with
Sika’s unique range of products and solutions.
This is an excellent development in the
implementation of our innovative Sika UK
Knowledge Centre, which presents a fantastic
opportunity for customers to access new
guidance and gain new skills at a time of their
choosing.”
Highlighting the benefits of SikaBit
ProMelt
Featuring expert guidance delivered by Sika’s
roofing team, the free-to-join webinar launch of
SikaBit ProMelt provides an enlightening insight
“The Sika Knowledge
Centre presents an
opportunity to get to
grips with Sika’s
unique range of
products and
solutions”
into the benefits of the high-performance
structural waterproofing system. The hot-applied
membrane is the latest addition to Sika’s roofing
portfolio of bituminous, single-ply and coldapplied
liquid membranes, offering outstanding
waterproofing performance and design versatility
for a variety of new and refurbishment
applications.
Due to its non-tracking monolithic state, SikaBit
ProMelt is suitable for inverted cold flat roofing
areas, podium decks, balconies and terraces. It is
also the ideal system for new-build construction
sites on account of the short duration time
between its installation and its ability to be
trafficked.
Robust and reliable, SikaBit ProMelt is BBAcertified
for the durability of the design life of the
roof, making it the perfect solution for high-traffic
flat roofing areas.
Providing excellent insights into cuttingedge
solutions
In addition to a module dedicated to Sika Pro-
Tecta profiled metal roof solutions, the Sika
Knowledge Centre offers an informative window
on the company’s range of cutting-edge corrosion
systems and full roof waterproofing systems.
Whilst a webinar titled ‘Designing for a
Sustainable Future’ looks into what constitutes a
green roof in terms of design and sustainable
performance, an e-Learning course, Flat Roofing
– Planning to Succeed, has also been created to
provide more general advice on a popular
industry topic:
https://gbr.knowledge.sika.com/page/roofing
With a diverse library of educational courses
already available on matters relating to sectors
across the construction industry, the Sika
Knowledge Centre will continue to grow over the
coming months to include additional learning
content.
Cheryl Douglas concluded: “The roofing webinars
are designed to improve the specification and
installation process, with the overall aim of
upholding best practice standards across the
industry. Whether they’re a contractor, specifier
or builder’s merchant, a visit to the Sika
Knowledge Centre will benefit any of our
customers. We urge them to take a moment of
their time to log on to the website where a wealth
of building-based knowhow is available at their
fingertips.”
