Co-ordinator’s Catch-up
Hello everyone and Happy New Year!
February already and my word haven’t we hit the
ground running. So much is going on in the
community and at The Cottage. If three computers
on the go all at once does not give you an indication of how busy we
are, then nothing will. Covid 19 has impacted volunteering around
the globe and we are also feeling the effects. With many different
volunteering roles available, we would love to hear from you as we
have learned so much about the importance of social connection
and the significant role volunteering can play in supporting
well-being and reducing loneliness in the both the volunteer and the
recipient. If you can spare any time, even as little as an hour, please pop in or ring me for a chat.
Happy birthday to Hetty Hall, 95 and still going strong. Hetty had a
lovely day with her family and enjoyed being spoilt at Seniors the
following Tuesday with her favourite dessert, a pavlova.
Well done Girgarre! Dale had the pleasure of picking up the new
community car, a 2022 Kia Sportage. The community transport
program is back up and running at 100%. If you require transport
for medical appointments, please phone us to organise a booking.
Once again, we need more volunteer drivers. If you are able to
assist, please contact us to discuss driving options.
The Butterfly Patch is booming! The produce is incredible and we have just begun our second round of
planting. We have the “Gardens Gurus” in every Wednesday-these gardeners are a mix of new and experienced
gardeners who are a lovely welcoming bunch. We are using Wednesday’s as an opportunity to
meet new people and learn or teach new skills. So if you love to garden or would like to learn, please pop
in to the Cottage on a Wednesday at
10am. You will be rewarded with a
lovely lunch cooked with produce from
our very own garden.
Take care, Bye for now, Kezia
