87% of people GIVE UP! It’s a different world we live in these days, self-care is something we MUST prioritise. From one day to the next our plans can quickly change. Restrictions, rules and guidelines are regularly changing. It makes it extremely hard to plan an approach you feel is within your control when things are forever being changed. It can be overwhelming and this in turn can lead us to say “why bother?” I’ve spent over a decade in the fitness industry and I’ve never seen such uncertainty from people in how to make their health a priority. Sabotage Something you might not be aware of, yet it happens without us realising... yes, the unforgiving nature of self-sabotaging. Having fun, freedom and the ability to make future plans is what we thrive on. We get in shape for a holiday, a wedding or just to feel good in summer while we are out and about. But none of those things are now guaranteed. We all live in a world of massive uncertainty, so a lack of self-care has become the norm for many of us. Unmonitored drinking, plenty of fast food and takeaways, box-set after box-set. With the mentality… I’ll sort it out when life’s back to normal. For now, this is our normal, and looking after ourselves should be right up there as a number one priority. What To Focus On Self-care means looking after our mind, body and energy. Here are some tips; 1. Create something or do something monthly for yourself. 2. Look after your nutrition (recipe provided to try). 3. Move daily, it doesn’t need to be vast amounts. Just make an effort to move. 4. Read or listen to something daily that helps your mind grow. 5. Get enough sleep, team “no sleep” doesn’t work for your body or mind. 6. Drink your water, yes even if you don’t like to, it’s needed... 7. Limit social media! Take regular breaks. 8. Speak with someone if you’re struggling. Too many suffer in silence.
