GREENWOOD VILLAGE<br />
The Greenwood Village Police<br />
Department has seen an increase in<br />
vehicle break-ins and residential<br />
burglaries (especially through open<br />
garages). The Village Police Department’s<br />
priority is to protect residents and<br />
businesses from crime. To effectively<br />
combat crime we need an active,<br />
engaged, and aware community.<br />
Remember — the most important single<br />
act you can do is to be aware of your<br />

surroundings and call the Police to report<br />
crimes or suspicious activities. If the<br />
situation doesn’t look or feel right, it<br />
probably is not.<br />
Here are some important tips to ensure your safety in<br />
your home and neighborhood:<br />
HOME SAFETY<br />
• Keep your doors locked — even if you are home.<br />
• Close and lock windows when leaving the house.<br />
• Sign up for vacation home watch.<br />
OPEN GARAGE DOORS AND<br />
GARAGE DOOR OPENERS<br />
Open garage doors or stolen garage door openers are<br />
often an entry point for burglars. Remember to close<br />
your garage doors when you are not in the garage or<br />
close enough to see inside the garage.<br />
• Do not leave the garage remote inside your vehicle<br />
when parked in your driveway or on the street.<br />
• Install motion sensor lights on your garage.<br />
• Keep bushes/trees around your garage pruned to<br />
improve natural surveillance.<br />
VEHICLE SECURITY<br />
• Always keep your vehicle locked up (even when<br />
parked in front of your home or in your driveway).<br />
• Do not leave anything of value in the vehicle; take<br />
them with you or lock in the trunk.<br />
• Do not warm up your vehicle without being in it.<br />
• Park your vehicle in areas that are highly visible and<br />
well lit.<br />
• Never hide a second set of keys inside your vehicle.<br />

NEIGHBORHOOD IN GREENWOOD VILLAGE<br />
The Police Department has made the Village’s crime statistics<br />
available online for citizens to view real time crime data for your<br />
neighborhood. The site provides easy to read incident crime maps<br />
and automated alerts are available to track trends. Crime data is<br />
updated automatically on a daily basis. Visit<br />
greenwoodvillage.com/crimeandsafety and click on the<br />
Neighborhood Crime Map. Enter your home or business address<br />
and you can view crime data in your neighborhood based on the<br />
