Making use of leading-edge technology in both development and quality assurance, OMICRON sets new standards for advanced testing equipment in terms of flexibility, accuracy, portability and reliability. The analog test signals of the CMC test sets are generated digitally using DSP technology. This, in combination with the use of additional error correction algorithms, results in accurate testing signals even at small amplitudes. All current and voltage outputs are overload and short-circuit proof and are protected against external high-voltage transient signals and overtemperature. Additional independent channels with low-level signals are available which can be used to test relays which have a low-level input facility or to control external amplifier units. 1 The integrated network interface supports comprehensive testing in the IEC 61850 environments using the optional GOOSE and Sampled Values functionality. Depending on the requirements, users can choose between several unique devices from the CMC test set family: 2 CMC 356: The Workhorse 6 Phase Current + 4 Phase Voltage Test Set and Commissioning Tool The CMC 356 is the universal solution for testing all generations and types of protection relays. Its powerful six current sources (three-phase mode: up to 64 A / 860 VA per channel) with a great dynamic range, make the unit capable of testing even high-burden electromechanical relays with very high power demands. Commissioning engineers will particularly appreciate its ability to perform wiring and plausibility checks of current transformers, by using primary injection of high currents from the test set. The CMC 356 is the first choice for applications requiring the highest versatility, amplitude and power. CMC 353: The Compact 3 Phase Current + 4 Phase Voltage Test Set and Commissioning Tool With its compact design and low weight of 12.9 kg / 28.4 lbs, the CMC 353 provides the perfect combination of portability and power. It is the ideal test set for three-phase protection testing and the commissioning of SCADA systems. The powerful current outputs (3 x 32 A / 430 VA) support 5 A relay testing in an optimal way. The portable design makes this device an excellent choice for commissioning and maintenance tasks, particularly in industry, distributed generation, and medium and low voltage applications. It meets a wide variety of challenges in protection engineering – from testing electromechanical relays to the latest IEC 61850 IEDs. CMC 256plus: The Reference 6 Phase Current + 4 Phase Voltage Test Set and Universal Calibrator The CMC 256plus is the first choice for applications requiring very high accuracy. This unit is not only an excellent test set for protection devices of all kinds but also a universal calibration tool. Its high precision allows the calibration of a wide range of measuring devices, including: energy meters of class 0.2, measuring transducers, power quality measurement devices and phasor measurement units (PMU). CMC 850: IEC 61850 Test Set CMControl-6 (for CMC 356, CMC 256plus, and CMC 256-6) CMControl-3 (for CMC 353) CMC 156 EP 3 Phase Current + 3 Phase Voltage Test Set and Calibrator At only 9.8 kg / 22 lbs, the CMC 156 EP is the smallest and lightest solution for three-phase testing of numerical relays. 1 Its high precision makes it also the perfect device (class 0.05 % Working Standard) for testing and calibrating meters, transducers and other measurement equipment. CMC 850 IEC 61850 Test Set The CMC 850 is the world's first protection test set dedicated to IEC 61850. It focuses on the real-time communication methods of GOOSE and Sampled Values to interface with the devices under test. The test set is controlled by OMICRON's proven Test Universe software. Beyond this, the CMC 850 offers several embedded functions, which are accessible through a Web interface by simply using an ordinary Web browser. Since time synchronization is often required in such test cases, the CMIRIG-B is supplied along with the CMC 850. The unit is small and lightweight because its focus on IEC 61850 applications means there is no need for conventional binary I/Os and amplifiers for the secondary signals. CMControl Front Panel Control for CMC Test Sets The CMControl is the ideal solution for instant manual testing with CMC test sets. It works with CMC 356, CMC 353, CMC 256plus, and CMC 256-6 2 and can be ordered together with new units or as a later upgrade for existing devices. Flexible Hardware Configuration The current and voltage amplifiers of the test sets can be easily configured in order to meet the needs of the individual applications.
