While working at ZGF during my 4th year in college as part of
a co-op, I took the TI renovation of ZGFs office from design
conception and programming all the way through construction
documents and construction administration, returning to finish
my 5th year of school a few months before the project was
complete. The previous design for their 37th floor office in
Downtown LA had been completed in the 90s and was in need
of some modernization. ZGF wanted to find a perfect balance
between a bustling and lively architectural studio you might find
at the top architecture schools in the country, and a modern
and sophisticated corporate office setting. I was fortunate to
be able to take this project through all phases of design, from
programming meetings with ZGF partners, to conceptualizing
the design concept, developing of doors details, bathroom
details, ceiling details, and various other details, and finally to
implementation and execution in construction administration.
