artspeak - arts & cultural
activities for the over 60’s
by ArtSpeak
ArtSpeak is
a Big Lottery
funded project
in and around
Nottingham for
people aged 60
and above. We
organise and
run a varied
programme of arts and cultural activities providing
opportunities to explore, learn and discover new
skills and interests, meet like-minded people and
socialise.
We run workshops covering many art forms
including photography, life drawing, painting, craft
and mixed media. We also have a programme of
performance arts including monthly music improv
evenings, a theatre group and dance company. We
work in partnership with local arts venues to provide
insightful walkthroughs of their latest exhibitions,
sparking conversations around art, artists and the
broader cultural offer in the City. We have an outdoor
walks programme, ArtSpeak Ambles with themes of
history, nature, and mindfulness, and organise group
visits to venues further afield to inspire and expand
our arts offer.
Some of our activities are free and when we do
charge the fee is subsidised. Becoming an ArtSpeak
member is free and once you’ve signed up, you’ll
receive discounted rates, and get instant programme
announcements and updates via email.
A lot of our activities take place at our Centre, 25
Prospect Street, Radford. We link into other events
across Nottingham, and attend things as a group
to introduce members to new experiences. For full
details about the work we do and for information
about our programme visit artspeak.org.uk or get in
touch with us at artspeak@radfordcaregroup.org.uk
ravenshead u3a -
celebrating 10 years
by Ravenshead U3A
We are often asked “What is
the u3a and what do you do?”
Ravenshead u3a is one of
over 1,100 local u3a charities
around the UK, which facilitate
varied interest group activity
meetings for their members, led by member
volunteers and governed by local trustees of their
charity.
We are celebrating our 10th year anniversary in 2022
with a special event on Tuesday 14th June at St
Peter’s Church in Ravenshead, starting from 10am.
At Ravenshead u3a, most of our activities take place
during the working week, so tend to be suited to
those adults who are older and have both the time
and flexibility to attend.
We have interest groups to suit all tastes, from art,
crafts, cryptic crosswords, antiques, family history,
photography, local history, languages, science
and technology, food and cookery, guitar playing
and armchair travelling, to active pursuits such as
walking and hiking, table tennis, yoga, belly dancing
and also themed group trips to places of interest...
and everything in between!
Becoming a member of Ravenshead u3a only costs
£14 a year, and that gives access to 11 monthly
meetings a year, plus nearly 40 organised interest
group activities at venues in and around the village.
