Digital Programs
Australian Design Centre uses digital programs to extend beyond the gallery
space. In 2021, as a result of COVID-19 shutdowns and closures, we ramped up our
digital activity to reach audiences and engage with makers across the country to
keep our community connected.
Websites
Australian Design Centre operates two websites: australiandesigncentre.com
and sydneycraftweek.com for the annual Sydney Craft Week Festival. In 2021 we
completed a major project to update and refresh both sites. The new platform
allows greater functionality and flexibility in delivery along with improving usability
and accessibility for our audience.
Object Digital
Object Digital is a digital publishing and events initiative that sits within our
website and is part of our ongoing research into diverse topic areas. Object Digital
includes content we create and we republish important and interesting content
created by others in the field giving access for our audiences to critical writing
and broad and diverse subject matter.

Podcast
ADC launched the first series of the podcast Object: stories of design and craft in
2021. The series of conversations between Lisa Cahill and Australia’s masters of
craft was a highly successful first foray into digital programing. This project was
funded by Australia Council for the Arts and produced by Jane Curtis. The project
has been positively received by the community and is available on all major
podcast players.
Object Book Group
Started in March 2021 as an initiative to indulge our love of reading about craft,
design, artists and creativity and to engage the creative community to talk with
each other and us about the books offered. There have been nine books on the
monthly reading list so far.
Films
We use Vimeo for our film content and also embed the films we produce into our
website and across social channels.
Object Shop Online
In 2021 we rebuilt our online shop platform. This enabled increased sales to
continue to support makers during the pandemic.
Social Media
The last three years have seen rapid growth in our social media. ADC’s Instagram
curated account reached over 17,000 followers with a reach of 162,899. Facebook
